Individual Therapy

How do I know if I need therapy

Do any of the following resonate with you? Attachment issues, identity exploration, sex addiction, anxiety, self-doubt, loneliness? Perhaps you’re navigating new challenges like open relationships, the process of transitioning or building better boundaries. Maybe you want to grasp a better understanding on your sexual or gender identity? As you see, there are many reasons. We will help identify the issue, find a therapist you feel comfortable with, and present a game plan for the next steps. Also please remember that showing your vulnerability and seeking support is a sign or maturity, strength & growth.

Why should I start now?

If I had to sum up therapy in three words then it would be: Making Positive Changes. Listen, how good would it feel if you not only knew where your problems came from but also had a designed blueprint for a better and brighter you. You may feel like you’re ready to jump right into this. Or you may be on the other side of the spectrum where you’re feeling apprehensive. “I don’t know if now is the right time”… “I got too much other shit going on”…”Money, insurance, will my job cover it?”

All very rational questions. You have a life. We understand. Its not an easy decision and actually quite the vulnerable undertaking, so it will almost never feel like the perfect time. Trust your gut and take the first step, however small. Imagine this: You looking at your future self: radiating with confidence, giving you a nod to start now.

Why us? Why Rouse?

It all starts with creator & founder of Rouse Therapy, David Khalili. 20 years of experience in the sexual wellness field. 15 in mental health. But what makes him stand out are his cultural upbringings and the network of professionals he has curated along the way. David didn’t read a blog about sex & identity struggles, he lived them. Constantly questioning societal norms towards sexual identity and gender and then going home to have all this clash with with religious roots. He’s had feelings of self-doubt and loneliness but also pushed himself to keep going which resulted in getting some real life experience answers.

Gathering all of the information, generating a team of like minded individuals, connecting with a community, all with the sole purpose to help you find your true self. And love it

Common issues we work with:

I feel like i’m in too deep

You’re not. We guide individuals that are in both the shallow and deep end. What I’m about to say might surprise and even confuse you. The deeper the issue, the bigger the hidden treasure. We have so much to work with. So much potential. I know it may feel tremendously overwhelming and even impossible to see any light when you’re in the thick of it, but as professionals who can zoom out of these situations, let us lead the way. Just a side note, we’re not suggesting to bring in more problems on purpose. No, no. Let’s take it easy here. But we are saying that once you’re fully in then we are as well. Dedicated to you.

“After getting the ball rolling, I realized, and full believed that I do not have to make the same choices anymore. Rouse Therapy helped me understand myself, my attachment styles & much, much more. All of this has sparked something inside of me. Showing up healthier, setting boundaries and leading myself towards a pretty cool future”

What does the beginning process look like?

Let’s start it as simple as possible. With a phone call. Here we’ll discuss your situation and goals. Tailor a plan that works uniquely for you. This process is therapeutic as well. Matching a therapist that fits your style, vibe & frequency. We’ll then figure out a schedule that’s best for your improvement. Fine tuning the sessions and choosing a different therapist are of course variables we will discuss.

How often do we meet?

Everyone is not only a different person but learns in their own way. Some individuals jump right into intensive sessions a couple times a week, some do 1-2 appointments a month. After getting acquainted, we’ll modify the schedule accordingly. The common factor among any success in my clients? Consistency. Showing up on a regular interval, gaining trust on both ends, from therapist and vice versa, all lead to trust which is the key component to being comfortable. That will lead us toward the ultimate goal which is opening up & sharing.

Im worried about the finance part…

I get it. Money is certainly a deciding factor. I’ll never tell you how to manage your finances. But I will strongly say that prioritizing your mental health is a win-win. The myriad of possibilities when you take care of your heart, soul & mind. A peaceful mind brings clarity in its purest form. You flow differently, you give off a vibrant energy, you attract higher levels of people and conversations. To me, this is priceless. Here’s the catch though. You wont see results right away. It takes time. Mental health is a facet that trickles down into every aspect of your life. So why not make is the absolute best? Nothing is a guarantee but if you stick with this and give it a 100%, things will get better. That is a fact.

Is sex therapy also offered in individual therapy?

For sure. Its very common to have someone start with individual therapy and then bring up sex related issues such as insecurities, body-shaming, overwhelming guilt and shame, a fear to share desires or fantasies, feelings of shame for finally sharing, holding onto secrets, among more. Or perhaps you want to be more harmonious with polyamory or transitioning? Point is, some of these topics will intertwine while some will not. We start with what you want to, and go from there.
