“Pleasure is the measure. Of sexual wellbeing, I mean. Pleasure. Not how much you want sex, not how much sex you have, or with whom, or what you do, or where or how often. The key to assessing your own sexual wellbeing is not how much you want sex, but how much you like the sex you are having.”
- Emily Nagoski, Ph.D, Sex Researcher and Educator, Author of Come As You Are, Come together, and Burnout
Biography
Sexuality is probably one of the most complex challenges of the human experience. We each have our unique journey and are expected to navigate flirting, dating, “first times”, sex, partnership, and love with little to no guidance. In society, sexual curiosities and mental health are still seen as shameful or embarassing, despite its trending popularity in the media. Even then, younger generations, especially in BIPOC communities, find themselves trying to convince their peers and partners that conversations about sex and intimacy are a strong part of building relationships. In my work as a couples and sex therapist, I find great passion in helping people decode their complicated emotions around their existence as a sexual being.
My role as your couples therapist will oscillate among being the mediator for you and your partner(s), providing additional insight from an unbiased perspective, and suggesting different activities to break the cycle. I can resonate with the frustrations, feelings of hopelessness, and cyclical arguments that linger throughout the next day. Sometimes these feelings become unbearable and it gets to a point where you are questioning your self-worth and whether the relationship is worth saving. In couples therapy with me, you can expect a deep dive into the origins of your relationship issues, gain a better understanding of yourself and your partner, and hopefully experience a closer bond.
I also have experience working with individuals navigating the dating scene, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD. I have worked extensively with women and men in their 20s and 30s - a time where life changes significantly. From career changes and isolation to break-ups and family turmoil, individual therapy can provide support, offer individualized tools to cope with unexpected changes, and empower you to be confident in every step you take.Over the years, I have catered my services to working with individuals and couples who need support in the following areas, but not limited to:
